Wii MotionPlus and Wii Sports Resort Release Dated

Recently, there has been a lot of speculation as to when the Wii MotionPlus accessory is to be released by Nintendo. After Nintendo had introduced MotionPlus at E3 2008, they went on to dispel the rumors that the accessory would be coming in July.

Now the company has set June 8, 2009 as the US release date for the hardware add-on. The Wii Sports Resort, a follow up to the Wii Sports game that currently comes packed with the Wii console, will launch on July 26, 2009.

The MotionPlus technology tracks players’ movements with much greater accuracy, offering one-to-one motion for the Wii home video game console, and attaches to the Wii remote. The accessory can be used while playing specially designed games such as Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 and Red Steel 2.

“Wii MotionPlus represents a new evolution in video game control. The variety of fun games in Wii Sports Resort show off its incredible precision,” stated Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive VP of Sales & Marketing. “Developers around the world are busy working on new ways to incorporate Wii MotionPlus controls into inventive experiences for consumers.”

The Wii MotionPlus accessory is to be offered at an MSRP of 19.99 USD (approx. Rs. 995). Also, the Wii MotionPlus accessory and the Wii Sports Resort game will be available together at an MSRP of 49.99 USD (approx. Rs. 2,485).
