E3 2008: Wii MotionPlus Introduced by Nintendo

At this year’s E3 show, it was expected that Sony as well Microsoft would be announcing a motion sensitive controller for their gaming consoles, the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 respectively. No one expected Nintendo to announce something for the Wii. Now at E3 2008, Nintendo has revealed the Wii MotionPlus accessory.

So what exactly is the Wii MotionPlus accessory? Nintendo touts that it will revolutionize the Wiimote as it quickly and accurately reflects motions in a 3-D space. The MotionPlus accessory has to be attached to the end of the Wii Remote. It offers a wide-ranging tracking of a gamers arm position and orientation when pooled with the accelerometer and the sensor bar.

Nintendo has stated that the slightest of the movements are rendered identically in real time on the screen thereby offering a true 1:1 response in the game play. Nintendo will be revealing more details about the Wii MotionPlus accessory later today at E3.
