Gears of War 4 gets its release date outlined finally

The extremely anticipated fourth main entry in the Gears of War series has at last been granted a firm release date by Microsoft. October 11 is when this Xbox One exclusive will be made available worldwide, with its multiplayer beta having been scheduled to take place as early as later this month.

Gears of War 4 is of course being developed by The Coalition, a studio that has never been involved in creating a full game from the series before this. It has indeed however taken care of re-mastering last year’s Gears of War: Ultimate Edition for the Xbox One and PC.

The developer has announced that it will be holding a closed multiplayer beta from April 18 onwards for only those who purchased the above mentioned compilation of previous GOW games. As for others, the beta will be seen going live a week later on April 25.

GOW 4

This title may be the fourth main entry to the entire series, but it’s actually the fifth game in the franchise. That’s because 2013 saw Microsoft releasing Gears of War: Judgment which acted as a prequel to the previous games. Like all the other titles from this series, this one too was well received.

Gears of War 4 will adopt the cover-based third person shooter system its predecessors pioneered. Its story will be set 25 years after the events that transpired in GOW 3. It will star Marcus Fenix’s son JD Fenix and two new characters, and will not feature four-player co-op.

Like we said, Gears of War 3 is slated to hit the Xbox One on October 11 worldwide. You can pre-order it right now through all major retailers around the globe.
