Nintendo’s NX console has entered production, says report

With leaks pouring in about possible features of the yet unannounced Nintendo console codenamed NX, we are for the first time hearing something about its production. A report is saying that trial production runs of the system are already underway in China.

The company in charge is Foxconn which is widely known to be the official manufacturing partner of Apple. It’s being said that while Foxconn will be the largest equipment provider for the Nintendo NX, Japan’s Misumi Electronics and Hosiden will also be chipping in.

DigiTimes has reported that the Mario company is currently planning to produce around 9.5 and 10 million NX units a year. This sounds like a huge bet, considering the current-gen Wii U isn’t doing quite well in competition with the much loved PS4 and Xbox One consoles.

From past leaks, we have learned that the console will be a portable machine with a large display and detachable controllers. This will allow you to use it outdoors as well, while when indoors, you can connect it to your TVs. The focus here seems to be on portability and blurring the line between handheld consoles and home consoles.
