Nintendo Switch’s Joy-Con issue has a fix, but there’s a catch

The Nintendo Switch was launched last week, and it is already the company’s fastest selling console ever. However, not everything is peachy for the Japanese giant. Among the various issues that owners of the gaming machine have been facing, a more prominent one includes frequent disconnections of the Joy-Con controllers from the console.

A proper fix to this is still be to issued, but a YouTube channel named Spawn Wave may have come up with one. What’s bad however is that you will need to open up the Joy-Con controller from your Nintendo Switch in order to try out this method. Apart from the possibility of spoiling its internals, there’s also the problem of voiding the warranty of the device due to this method.

It’s hence not advised that you try it out unless you’re okay with losing the warranty and are in the know of how electronics work. As you probably know by now, this problem only exists on the left Joy-Con which keeps disconnecting from the Switch for no reason sometimes.

The video we’ve posted in the space below shows what is possibly the root of the issue. Apparently, the left-hand Joy-Con’s antenna exists on the physical part of the internal printed circuit board, rather than being detachable like in the right-hand controller.

This causes the left Joy-Con’s antenna to be in close proximity to the metal casing of its thumbstick. It is this that is causing the frequent disconnections according to the maker of the video. And he hence asserts that soldering piece of wire to the circuit board and extending the antenna down into a different section will solve the problem.

We would once again like to remind you that this method of solving the Nintendo Switch’s connectivity issues is extremely risky for many reasons. So be completely sure about it if you decide to go ahead with it.
