PS5 Pro Design Leaks Online Ahead Of Speculated Debut

PS5 Console

It is largely believed that the PS5 Pro will be unveiled by Sony this September but ahead of that, a leaked design render of the console has made it into the open. The overhauled console promises to bring a big performance boost to PS5 games.

The leaked design render comes from bilbil-kun of Dealabs and appears to be an evolution of the visual choices made by Sony for the PS5 Slim. Building on the slim console’s use of a one ridged line across the body, the PS5 Pro seems to have adopted three ridged lines on both sides.

As the illustration shows, an optical disc drive seemingly won’t form part of the assembly, starting speculation that the PS5 Pro will only include a digital-only model. It will apparently come with a duo of USB-C ports and a power button on the front.

No changes are expected to make their way into the DualSense controller. But the insides of the console itself are obviously set to receive an overhaul.

According to a previous leak, the PS5 Pro’s CPU will come with a ‘High CPU Frequency Mode’ that will give it a 10 percent increase in its clock speed, taking it to 3.85GHz.

As for the GPU, 33.5 teraflops will be accessible, enabling faster rendering and higher-quality ray tracing. For context, the standard PS5 is only able to offer 10.28 teraflops.

It’s also being said that Sony will introduce a new ‘PS5 Pro Enhanced’ label for upcoming games, or even previously released ones that could get patched.

Released in 2020, the PS5 has since been complemented by the PS5 Slim. It is smaller and lighter than the original and ships with additional USB ports and 1TB of internal storage. Like the original, this version too is available in digital-only and disc variants.
