Xbox And Bethesda E3 Highlights: Forza Horizon 5, Starfield, Halo Infinite, And More

Forza Horizon 5

Microsoft’s high-profile acquisition of Bethesda recently meant that there was a combined showcase of games from both entities. We got a reveal of the much-anticipated Starfield and also got the reveal of a real refrigerator that will be released this fall. Yes, you heard that right. Here are all the highlights from the event.

Starfield

This is Bethesda’s first new IP in 25 years. Despite the trailer, we still have very little info about this one. It’s set to be an action-RPG space odyssey. What’s disappointing though is that Starfield will not make its way to the PS5. November 11, 2022 is when it will hit the Xbox Series X/S and PC.

Halo Infinite

The sixth main entry to the Halo series is on course for its fall release and we got to see some new footage from the much-awaited game. Microsoft also confirmed that its multiplayer element will be free-to-play from day one.

Forza Horizon 5

Forza Horizon 5 takes the series into Mexico. The expected Forza detailing is visible in the trailer and Microsoft says that the developers actually captured real-world photos and videos of locations in Mexico to ensure they’re as realistic looking as possible. The game arrives on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on November 9. More importantly, it will be on the Game Pass from day one.

Battlefield 2042

We got a thrilling reveal of the multiplayer-only Battlefield 2042 a few days back, but Microsoft’s conference gave us our first look at its gameplay. It’s coming to the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on October 22.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2

The much delayed S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is alive again and set for an April 2022 release. This will be the first time the series will be on consoles, as it will arrive on the Xbox Series X/S and PC.

Redfall

Microsoft’s Bethesda acquisition also had Arkane Studios in its kitty and the developers over there have been hard at work on something other than Deathloop. Redfall is a co-op shooting game that has you slaying vampires. It’s ready for a 2022 release.

Flight Simulator

July 27 is when Microsoft’s Flight Simulator will make a landing on the Xbox Series X/S. An expansion that ties in with the movie Top Gun Maverick is also arriving in the game later this year.

Twelve Minutes

Annapurna Interactive’s indie offering Twelve Minutes has a sizeable amount of buzz around it, given its high-profile cast – James McAvoy, Daisy Ridley, and Willem Dafoe – and its peculiar gameplay that has you replaying events through a twelve-minute cycle to solve a mystery. It’s coming to PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on August 19 this year.

The Outer Worlds 2

Fans of space-based games have one more offering to cheer about in The Outer Worlds 2. Fallout: New Vegas maker Obsidian is responsible for this action RPG. Unlike its predecessor, this game will not be released on Sony or Nintendo consoles. It’s coming to Xbox Series X/S and PC. No release date has been revealed.

Xbox Mini Fridge

Microsoft has taken the meme seriously and is ready to sell an Xbox Mini Fridge later this year. Equipped with green lighting, and the ‘Xbox Velocity Cooling Architecture’ it will be able to hold a total of ten 12-ounce cans of beer, soda, or any other beverage.

Sea of Thieves

Captain Jack Sparrow from the Pirates of the Caribbean films is coming to Sea of Thieves as part of a new update that arrives on June 22. Check out the trailer to know more about it.
