There were quite a few surprises packed into Ubisoft’s E3 showcase, with the biggest among them being the announcement and trailer of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, a game based on James Cameron’s much-loved franchise. We also got a new Far Cry 6 trailer featuring a chilling Giancarlo Esposito scene, a first look at Rainbow Six Extraction, and much more. Here are the highlights and trailers.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
Massive Entertainment has been handed the reins of this game, which is to be powered by Ubisoft’s Snowdrop engine. Expect it to be a AAA action-adventure. The game is coming in 2022 to major platforms.
Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
The Mario + Rabbids crossover worked brilliantly for the first time so it’s no surprise to see it get a sequel. Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is being developed by the same studio that gave us the earlier game. It’s headed to the Nintendo Switch in 2022.
Rainbow Six Extraction
Yes, this Rainbow Six Quarantine with its name changed for obvious reasons. It has been developed as a spin-off for Rainbow Six Siege’s Outbreak mode. It’s coming to the PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S on September 16.
Riders Republic
This was quite unexpected. Riders Republic is an MMO of sorts featuring extreme sports, including mountain biking, skiing, snowboarding, wingsuit flying, and rocket wingsuiting. This multi-platform offering will consist of 6-v-6 competitions, 50-player mass races, a career mode, and much more.
Other Ubisoft announcements from E3 included a new interactive music learning service called Rocksmith+. There was also news that Rainbow Six Siege is getting cross-play and cross-progression support soon. Since there’s no Assassin’s Creed game this year, Ubisoft will be releasing a new The Siege of Paris expansion for Valhalla.
