Red Dead Redemption 2 Hits All-Time High Player Count On PC

Red Dead Redemption 2

Rockstar’s 2018 smash hit Red Dead Redemption 2 came out on PC in 2019 and has just broken the record of its highest concurrent player count on the platform. The game registered 66,492 concurrent players recently, beating its previous high of 55,000 players.

According to SteamDB, that previous peak of 55,000 concurrent players was registered in 2019, right after the game was launched on PC. Steam’s ongoing Autumn Sale is being seen as the major reason behind this push in Red Dead Redemption 2’s popularity.

The open world western can be purchased with a 67 percent discount at the moment. It does feature a multiplayer mode called Red Dead Online but development on the same has ceased since Rockstar has been busy redirecting resources towards GTA 6.

Quite a few people still enjoy its multiplayer mode but the game’s single-player campaign is where its real charm is. Rockstar has created a world that’s ever so lively and brings you brilliant unexpected scenarios well after you’ve finished the entire story.

Red Dead Redemption 2 acts as a prequel to the 2010 original, which has sold 23 million copies to date. Its story is set in 1899 and follows the exploits of the Van der Linde gang, letting you assume the role of outlaw Arthur Morgan.

Set amidst the decline of the Wild West, it has the player character struggling to survive against government forces, rival gangs, and other adversaries.

Red Dead Redemption 2 was released for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC but is playable on next-gen consoles, albeit, without a next-gen patch to aid its visuals. It has so far sold over 46 million copies, making it one of the best-selling video games of all time.
