The Witcher 3’s Next-Gen Patch Brings Photo Mode, Cross-save, And More

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

CD Projekt Red has outlined all the new features that will form part of the next-gen upgrade for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Among them is a photo mode that will allow players to capture screenshots from various camera angles by pausing the game.

The makers of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt have also said that a cross-save system will be introduced by these next-gen versions. It will work using GOG Galaxy accounts and enable players to port their saves between all platforms.

Ray tracing will of course form part of the upgrade as well, allowing the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC versions to render graphics more beautifully. Other visual upgrades to the game include ambient occlusion, screen-space reflections, and dynamic resolution scaling.

On consoles, the new Performance mode will focus on giving 60fps gameplay, whereas the Quality mode will run at 30fps to offer ray tracing. CD Projekt Red has said that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will only run at 30fps on the Xbox Series S.

And on PC, FSR and DLSS upscaling techniques will be introduced for improving the frame rate. Those with top-notch PC hardware will be able to take advantage of the new Ultra Plus settings to let them really push their setups.

There’s a new control option in store for those using Signs, which enables you to access different Signs by holding down the right trigger. And the game will also include new armour sets inspired by Netflix’s The Witcher series. These will be added to the last-gen versions as well.

The much-delayed next-gen patch for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is scheduled to arrive on December 14. Anyone who owns the game on the PS4, Xbox One or PC will be able to grab the upgrade free of cost.
