Nintendo announces Mini Famicom for Japan

Well with the west getting the Nintendo Classic Mini NES, it was only a matter of time until the company unveiled a version for its home audience. Lo and behold the Mini Famicom with its nostalgic maroon and beige design. Not to mention a palm-sized form factor that also incorporates two controllers, making it travel friendly.

Just like its western counterpart, the Mini Famicom is also scheduled to arrive this November. It will cost 49.99 GBP (approx Rs. 4300), and will offer a set of 30 pre-installed NES games. However, there won’t be any support for installing more games. Officially that is.

The Mini Famicom will connect to TV sets via HDMI, and display classic games in HD. Moreover, it will also have settings that will allow you to emulate the look of old CRT TVs. As one would expect, the lineup of the 30 pre-installed games will be different for the Japanese version.
