What we can expect from the DOOM reboot?

Much like the movie industry it seems the gaming world has embraced the idea of a reboot with a number of popular franchises finding increased success once more by reinventing classic video game concepts for a modern audience.

This May will see the unveiling of yet another video game reboot when publishers Bethesda Softworks unleash the terrifying reinvention of first-person shooter ‘Doom’. The horror genre has always been a rich source of inspiration for game developers.

Back in the early 90’s when horror’s popularity was dwindling slightly it was games like ‘Doom’ that helped its revival from casino to console to mobile games. It inspired movies and other media, raging monster slots found at europalace.com, as well as being the catalyst for other popular gaming franchises in the future such as ‘Resident Evil’.

The game itself will be the fourth instalment in the franchise but with the 4 dropped from the title and with it rumoured to feature plenty of familiar faces from the original it will definitely be a fresh take on the classic shoot-em-up that will also head straight back to its roots for inspiration.

Unlike other recent gaming efforts that involve a lot of shooting action the latest version of ‘Doom’ will be dropping any ability to regain health. This will mean that the game will encourage players to face their enemies head on and not simply cower in the corner trying to avoid potential harm in order to have a quick health boost.

This will certainly give ‘Doom’ a faster paced edge over its counterparts making it all the more exciting and unpredictable much like the original. With the game looking to recall some familiar features and faces from the original game there are still plenty of changes and expansions to enjoy. Of course the graphics will be incredibly more advanced compared to the now rather primitive looking 3D graphics featured in the 1993 version offering full HD visuals.

The game will move a lot quicker and offer the player plenty more flexibility than simply charging around corridors. The playing environments themselves are more expansive and the player will also be able to interact a lot more with weapons and when battling enemies. Both the BFG 9000 and super shotgun will be back in the new edition whilst the Mancubus, Cyberdemon and Revenant monsters will all return.

But one of the most exciting additions for the first time in the franchise is the new Doom SnapMap feature that gives players the opportunity to build their own levels and play modes. Players will be able to customize their own special ‘Doom’ levels and introduce various game logic and modes which they can then share with other players.
