E3 2008: Wii Sports Resort for Wii Announced by Nintendo

When the Wii was launched by Nintendo, the game that everyone enjoyed was the launch title, Wii Sports. The game did pretty well and has sold millions of copies all over the world. Nintendo has announced the sequel at E3 2008. Wii Sports Resort will make use of the MotionPlus accessory.

Wii Sports Resort will feature games like Sword Play, Power Cruising on a water scooter as well as Disc Dog. The game will ship with the MotionPlus accessory and Wii Remote Jacket. The other game that Nintendo has revealed for the Wii at the expo is Animal Crossing: City Folk, which will have support for WiiConnect24. Just like the other game, Animal Crossing: City Folk also makes use of a new Wii peripheral, the WiiSpeak microphone. But this will be sold separately.

Wii Music Screenshots

One more game that was announced for the Nintendo’s current generation console was Wii Music. The game transforms the Wiimote into different musical instruments such as violin, electric guitar, steel drums and even a cowbell. Nintendo also had something for the DS as they announced a new GTA game! The game is called as Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars.

Cammie Dunaway is the executive vice president of sales and marketing at Nintendo of America. She commented, “Much has been reported about the ‘expanded audience’ for games, but what’s really at play is an expanded experience. People of all ages having fun together-whether in the same room or from remote locations-puts smiles on faces and drives millions of new players into video game entertainment.”

Animal Crossing City Folk Screenshots

Wii Sports Resort will be out next year while Animal Crossing: City Folk, Wii Music and Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars are expected to be out late in 2008. As for the WiiSpeak microphone accessory, it will cost $29.99 (approx. Rs. 1280). Guitar Hero On Tour: Decades and Spore Creatures will also released for the Nintendo DS later this year in fall.
