Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 Delayed Yet Again

Yes, Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2, City Interactive’s sequel to its not so well-received earlier title, has been met with yet another delay, pushing its release date forward to January 15, 2013. The game’s initial launch was planned for August of this year, but earlier this month it had come to light that it will be released in October.

Under development from City Interactive for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, this title has been described to be the only modern multi-platform first-person shooter to have been designed entirely around the sniper experience. It has been built using Crytek’s CryEngine 3 technology, and is said to kick in diverse sniper challenges which will be accompanied by varied weapons, ballistics and environmental factors.

In spite of it being slammed by critics for its average offerings, the earlier game in the series still managed to snap up 2 million sales. It was first released for the Xbox 360 and PC in 2010, following which, it made its way to the PS3 the year after. And just like this one, the sequel too will feature single-player as well as multiplayer traits.

Gamers can now pre-order the title through various retailers. And apart from standard copies, it is also available in the form of two special editions for all three platforms. While its Limited Edition copies will ship with a number of in-game benefits, the Collector’s Edition versions will be packed with such items as a hardback book, an artbook, an official soundtrack CD and more.
