Even as the non-gaming world discovers the Fallout canon via the Amazon Prime Video series, Bethesda Game Studios has made an announcement that will definitely please even the gaming world. The promised next-gen update for Fallout 4 is now ready and should land on April 25.

The free update will bring native applications to the PS5 and the Xbox Series X/S consoles. This will mean that Performance and Quality mode settings will be available to switch between, giving gamers the option of experiencing Fallout 4 in 60fps or with increased resolutions.

Amidst all this, PC players haven’t been overlooked. They will get widescreen and ultra-widescreen support, apart from fixes for the Creation Kit portion of the game.

Additionally, this update will make Fallout 4 a Steam Deck-verified game, giving it perfect support for the handheld device. Lastly, April 25 is also the date on which the game will be made available to purchase via the Epic Games Store.

Fallout 4 was released back in 2015 and was met with immense acclaim for its engaging narrative and top-class action RPG gameplay. A sequel is definitely in the works but its release is too far from the horizon right now.

After the release of Starfield, Bethesda’s focus has shifted to The Elder Scrolls 6 and it’s only after the release of this long-awaited game that work will begin full steam on the Fallout sequel. So don’t expect an announcement anytime soon.
