Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 hit with Delay, Now Slated for October launch

A delay in the release of Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 means that the game will now be out for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC on October 9, instead of its earlier release date which fell on August 21, 2012. No particular reason has been cited for this delay by its UK distributer Namco Bandai Games, which broke the news to Eurogamer recently.

Powered by Crytek’s CryEngine 3 technology, this title has been developed by City Interactive, the maker of other popular games that include Sniper: Ghost Warrior, to which the new title will act as a sequel. This earlier edition was almost floored by the critics for its mediocre gameplay when it released back in 2010 for the Xbox 360 and PC, and in 2011 for the PS3.

But surprisingly enough, the game managed to click among players, selling over two million copies worldwide. The sequel will also be a first-person shooter, and will feature different stealth, hand-to-hand assassination and sniping techniques. Single-player as well as multiplayer gameplay has been confirmed to form a part of the title by its developer.

Back in May, two special editions for the game were revealed for all three platforms. Its Collector’s Edition is all set to comprise a hardback book which has been developed in collaboration with military experts with combat experience, an artbook, an official soundtrack CD as well as extra in-game content and more.
