Telltale Games confirms The Walking Dead will have Season 2

Only five episodes were originally revealed to form part of The Walking Dead video game, but a new announcement from Telltale Games has confirmed that the title will indeed get a new season in the future. Moreover, it has even been disclosed that a pack containing the game’s first five downloadable episodes will be launched via retail.

A senior VP from the developer exposed the news Polygon recently, mentioning that about 1.7 million episodes of the game have already been sold worldwide. Moreover, it has also been confirmed that the third episode (Long Road Ahead) from the current season is all geared up to launch in the middle of August. The two episodes released so far have been receiving quite some praises from critics and players alike.

Steve Allison, Senior Vice President of marketing at Telltale Games, told the website, “We believe there is no better company than Telltale to bring complex narrative IP to interactive entertainment. Our first episodic game series based on The Walking Dead has sold nearly 1.7 million episodes to consumers in just our first 8 weeks with no signs of slowing down. We have three more episodes to go with Episode 3 targeted for August as we confirmed yesterday.”

The first episode based on the popular franchise came in April this year for the PS3, Xbox as well as PC, while the second chapter was launched late last month. Apart from this title, another game based on the celebrated franchise was also announced a few days back by Activision, aimed at a 2013 release. It will be a first-person action game with survival elements.

Both the episodes of The Walking Dead can be downloaded now through PSN, Xbox Live and Steam.
