Don’t expect the release anytime soon though. Through a blog post, the studio has informed us, “…while we’re excited to share the news with you, we want to ask you for patience as it will be a while until we start talking about this project in detail.”

The Witcher was released way back in 2007 and marked the start of the massive franchise that thrives today. Based on the eponymous fantasy novel series by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, it can be played only on Windows and Mac.

Its sequel, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings came out in 2011 and was met with tremendous acclaim from players and critics alike. Its action-RPG elements and tight storytelling paved the way for the franchise to take off in many new directions.

2015 saw the arrival of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which is counted among the best RPGs of all time. In 2019, Netflix released its TV series titled The Witcher, which was met with much acclaim and is gearing up for the release of its third season.

The Witcher Remake is just one among the many properties based on the franchise that is under development as of now, including a new main trilogy of Witcher games.
