Alan Wake 2 On Track For 2023 Release, Control Sequels Outlined

Alan Wake 2

At an earnings call, Remedy Entertainment made it known that development on Alan Wake 2 is on schedule and the game is on course for its planned 2023 debut. Moreover, the studio has also provided an update on the two Control sequels that are under development.

Despite these new announcements though, no release date details have been mentioned. Alan Wake 2 was announced at the 2021 edition of The Game Awards after leaks had already given away proof of its existence.

Remedy says the game is now in the production stage, yet a lot of work remains to be done. The developers have been receiving a lot of feedback from user testing, which they have described as “encouraging.”

Meanwhile, the two other titles the studio is working on are spin-offs of the Control franchise, codenamed Heron and Condor. While the latter is said to be in the proof-of-concept stage, the former still remains in the concept phase.

There are other games that Remedy is working on as well. The studio is collaborating with Rockstar Games on the remakes of Max Payne 1 and Max Payne 2. Not much has been spoken about these two much-anticipated offerings, however.

Remedy has also given an update on Vanguard, a free-to-play co-op game that it’s publishing along with Tencent. To ensure good quality, it will remain in the proof-of-concept phase until at least 2023.

Coming back to Alan Wake 2, it has been described by the makers as their first-ever survival horror game with a “deep psychological layer” at its heart. As opposed to that, its predecessor, which was released recently in its remastered form, was more of an action-based offering with horror elements.

We’ll have more on Alan Wake 2 when newer details are out.
