Alan Wake 2 Has Reportedly Gone Into “Full Production”

Alan Wake

To date, Alan Wake 2 has existed only in the form of rumors and it looks like developer Remedy Entertainment may have finally acknowledged its existence. In the company’s latest investor report, it has mentioned that a “AAA game project with Epic Games” which is widely believed to be the much-demanded sequel, has entered full production.

The speculation about Alan Wake 2 had started when a two-project publishing deal was announced to have been struck between Remedy and Epic Games. This deal apparently includes two games from the same franchise. Now, in the investor report in question, the company has written, “Remedy’s AAA game project with Epic Games has moved into full production, and a second, smaller-scale game remains in full production mode.”

Alan Wake’s last appearance wasn’t in his own game but in Remedy Entertainment’s 2019 extravaganza, Control. The character was part of the game’s second expansion titled AWE. Just like in the original game, Wake appears to be writing the story of the expansion as you play through it.

The original Alan Wake was released in 2010 for the Xbox 360 and PC. Its story followed the titular character trying to uncover the mystery behind his wife’s disappearance during a vacation in the small fictional town of Bright Falls. The game had received immense acclaim for its story and horror gameplay elements.

Two years later, Alan Wake’s American Nightmare was released as a standalone game that wasn’t quite a sequel. This one was a more action-oriented game but small in its scope. Despite this, it was well-received by gamers and critics alike.

Alan Wake 2 may have entered full production, but it’s still a long way away from a release. We’ll wait for newer details to emerge.
