Cyberpunk 2077 has been hogging all our attention ever since it was announced by Witcher-creator CD Projekt RED last year. That’s probably why we were so excited to see the teaser trailer of this game which debuted yesterday, giving us a glimpse of what we can expect from this futuristic RPG which adheres to the developer’s USP of providing mature experiences. But what we weren’t prepared for was a hidden message sent by the company by means of a frame which lasts for just a fraction of a second during a screen transition in the video.
First things first however; the teaser trailer of Cyberpunk 2077 contains CG footage, so expecting the final game to look exactly like this will be kind of foolish. But then again, the game is scheduled to arrive in 2015 – as we had reported about a while ago – and hence, it doesn’t hurt to overburden the next-gen hardware with our overwhelming expectations. Coming to the trailer, it centers around a heavily-mechanized woman, who has lost control of herself owing to the large number of cybermodifications she has applied to her body.
We see that the bullets being discharged through the guns of the Night City police are of no help in getting her under control. A special unit of the police seems to get this job done in the end. And then, in a flash-forward (notice the bullet mark on the chin), the same woman is seen working for the same special unit.
CD Projeckt RED’s official disclosures about the story state that the future portrayed within this title has its humans embracing cybermodifications to such an extent that their bodies ‘start to rebel’ against them at one point, leading them to embark on killing sprees, just like the woman from the teaser. Such people are known as psychos. When usual police is not able to grab hold of them, the specialized MAX-TAC team aka the Psycho Squad is called in.
And now for the hidden message: for this you need to set the quality of the video to 1080p, and manage to pause a fraction of the second after the video hits the 2:14 mark. This is quite a tricky pause to execute, so we’ve got the important point noted down here. CD Projeckt RED has mentioned that the release date for this game is slated ‘way off in 2015,’ which is a given. But the main piece of information here is that the February 5 reveal that the developer teases at the end of the video might just turn out to be the next Witcher game.
That’s because the company has written in its hidden message that its ‘other project,’ which is a ‘fully open-world game with an intense story,’ has come a lot closer to completion. All indications point towards the fact that this game is The Witcher 3 which we had reported about in July last year. So although fans of the developer will have to wait till long for new Cyberpunk 2077 details to come out, they can stay tuned till February 5, 2013 for more information about the mystery game.
