God of War Apparently Headed To PS Plus This Month [Update: Confirmed]

Update: Sony has now confirmed that the PS Plus games for June will indeed include God of War, Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker and Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl.

Original: A leak is claiming that Sony’s list of free games for PS Plus subscribers this June will include God of War. Sony is yet to officially confirm this but that’s great news for those who haven’t played the beautifully engrossing game yet or for those who’ve given away their discs and would like to jump into it yet again.

The leak comes from the reliable Deallabs, which claims to know all three of the PlayStation Plus that will be made available from June 7 to July 5. Apart from God of War, Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker and Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl will apparently be made available.

The inclusion of God of War can also be seen as Sony’s bid to have fans relive the story of ahead of the impending arrival of its sequel. God of War Ragnarok doesn’t have a release date yet but Sony has indeed said that it will be coming out this year for the PS4 and the PS5.

Chronologically, it will be the ninth entry to the franchise but it’s only the second one in the rebooted narrative. The game will be set in ancient Scandinavia and feature protagonists Kratos and his son Atreus, who is now a teenager.

It will serve as an end to the Norse era of the series as it is set to cover the Ragnarok or the end of days. It will also depict the deaths of some of the Norse gods, which was foretold to happen in the previous game after Kratos killed the Aesir god Baldur.

Released in 2018 for the PS4, God of War managed to sell over 5 million copies within a month. Moreover, it had sold off a whopping 19.5 million by August 2021, making it the best-selling PS4 game as well as the best-selling game in the series.
