God Of War Director Reveals Sony’s Own Studios Pushed For PC Releases

God Of War

God of War is out on PC just like many other PlayStation-exclusive titles in recent times. And while this move has delighted PC diehards, they have someone else to thank other than just Sony. It seems this move to release established PS4 games on PC was the result of a push from Sony-owned studios rather than the company itself.

This has been revealed by God of War game director Cory Barlog who said it in an interview with Game Informer. “Eventually, I think it reached that tipping point,” he said. “When we had sent so many suggestion box suggestions that they were like, ‘I’m tired of hearing all this. Fine, we’ll do this.’ It’s a process. We’re still figuring it out as a company and as individual studios how to do this and what the process and strategy will be.”

January 14 was when the PC port of God of War was released for PC. The game was originally launched for the PS4 in 2018 and had grabbed rave reviews for its sprawling narrative and action-packed gameplay. It is to be succeeded by God of War Ragnarok that takes protagonists Kratos and his teenage son Atreus to Scandinavia. While the game is currently supposed to release for the PS4 and PS5, Barlog has kept mum about a possible PC release.

A number of PlayStation-exclusive games were recently released for PC by Sony. Horizon Zero Dawn, Death Stranding, and Days Gone are just a few among them. The next such launch will be the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, which includes graphically updated versions of Uncharted 4: A Thieves End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. It will be released for the PS5 on January 28 but we don’t know when it will arrive on PC.
