The Last of Us HBO Show

HBO’s The Last of Us adaptation is enjoying resounding success and it was a given that the TV show will get a second season. This has been confirmed by the network now, albeit without a premiere date.

The third episode of the first season just dropped this Sunday and it’s safe to assume it will be counted among the best episodes of the year. The first episode of The Last of Us was already the second most-watched premiere in a decade.

The co-creator of the TV show, Craig Mazin said about the news, “I’m so grateful to Neil Druckmann and HBO for our partnership and I’m even more grateful to the millions of people who have joined us on this journey.”

Although The Last of Us deviates in its plot at some points, the TV show tells the same story portrayed in the iconic original game that came out in 2013. Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, both Game of Thrones actors, assume the lead roles of Joel and Ellie, respectively.

The series’ remaining cast includes Nico Parker as Joel’s daughter Sarah, Gabriel Luna as Joel’s brother Tommy, Merle Dandridge as resistance leader Marlene, and Anna Torv as Joel’s smuggler partner Tess.

Filmed in Canada, the HBO show is touted to be the largest television production in the country’s history. The first season consists of nine episodes written by Craig Mazin and Niel Druckmann. Gustavo Santaolalla, who composed music for the game, comes back for the series as well.

Recently, it was hinted that in its subsequent seasons, The Last of Us could explore characters that have only received mentions in the games. This has led many to believe that the origins Of The Seraphites from the second game could be traced in the second season.
