January 15 has been announced as the release date of this series that Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann and Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin are heading. It will follow a weekly release schedule for its nine episodes.

The new trailer gives us a broad outline of the HBO show’s plot, though it had already been announced that it would follow the original game’s story. That said, the creators have revealed that some incidents will “deviate greatly” from the source.

In case you haven’t played it, the game focuses on the relationship between Joel, a hardened survivor of the apocalypse who has lost his daughter and Ellie, a survivor his daughter’s age who could provide a cure for the fungus that has wreaked havoc around the world.

The first game was released in 2013 and received immense critical and player acclaim for its narrative, gameplay, visuals, and music. It soon became one of the best-selling video games of all time. The Last of Us 2 came out in 2020 and repeated the original’s success.

Currently, Naughty Dog is also known to be working on a multiplayer version of The Last of Us that will have a story of its own. More details about it are expected to be revealed soon.
