The Last Of Us TV Show Could Show Us Origins Of The Seraphites From Game’s Sequel

The Last of Us 2

With HBO’s The Last of Us TV series grabbing rave reviews from fans and critics alike, it’s obvious that everyone is busy exploring what the future of the show will be like. And a new statement from co-creator Craig Mazin has shined some light on a route that the series might take.

While speaking to YouTuber Fuera de Foco, Mazin said, “I know people are really interested in what happened before Joel met Ellie. We have some exploration of that, in the years between when the pandemic started and the timeline of the game, but not necessarily with Joel.”

The Last of Us showrunner continued, “There are characters that are only referred to, for instance, in the second game. One character in particular, you only see her face – images of her face, but I would love to find out what happened with her, that’s an interesting story.”

It’s this particular sentence that has grabbed the imagination of fans, who are speculating that the character being referred to here is the Serapthite Prophet from The Last of Us 2.

That’s because her face can indeed be spotted on murals strewn across the landscape of particular regions in the game, though the actual character isn’t introduced. The Seraphite Prophet is believed to have had a vision of the Cordyceps virus early on in the outbreak.

While the first season of HBO’s The Last of Us is focused mostly on the story of the first game with plot deviations here and there, it’s safe to assume that the writers might look at The Seraphite Prophet with respect to the inevitable second season.

The second episode of the nine-part The Last of Us series is scheduled to arrive on January 22.
