Sony E3 Press Conference – Part 1: God of War Ascension, More PS3 and PS Vita Games

The Sony E3 press conference was all about exclusive titles that are headed for the PS3 and the PS Vita. While God of War: Ascension saw its second trailer being unveiled, a new AAA title coming from Heavy Rain-developer Quantic Dream was also announced exclusively for the PS3. It will feature Juno star Ellen Page as one of its voice-acting performers.

The biggest announcement of the lot was that of Assassin’s Creed III Liberation which will be launched for the PS Vita. It will mark the first time in the AC series that a game will feature a female protagonist. This spin-off to Assassin’s Creed III will also be doled out as part of a bundle which will comprise a crystal white PS Vita Wi-Fi system, a 4GB memory card and game card of the title. The game was recently leaked by two UK retailers, but very few details were out prior to this.

Two upcoming PS3 games from Sony – God of War: Ascension and Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, will both feature stereoscopic 3D support. Apart from the trailers of these, those of much anticipated titles like The Last of Us, LittleBigPlanet Karting and PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale also hit the scene yesterday at the Sony E3 press conference. Moreover, the Japanese company even detailed a few PSN titles such as Sound Shapes, When Vikings Attack, Journey Collection and The Unfinished Swan.

LittleBigPlanet 2, which was released early last year for the PS3, will soon be infused with new cross-control functionality through an update. This will enable gamers to interact with the title using either their PS3 or PS Vita systems. In a somewhat expected announcement, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale was confirmed to be coming to the PS Vita. But more importantly, real-time cross-play functionality will be available for the PS3 and Vita versions.
