Sony E3 Press Conference – Part 2: PS Plus, PS Move Racing Wheel and PlayStation Mobile

Part 2 of our account of the Sony E3 press conference focuses on new information revealed by the company related to its enhanced PS Plus membership, a newly unveiled PS Move Racing Wheel and the company’s partnership with HTC for PlayStation Mobile. It was disclosed that PS Plus will now get a lot more free content in the form of big games for the PS3. For less than 5 USD a month, they would have access to popular titles from first-and-third party developers. And the list of free games will be updated each month. The roster of free games available throughout June comprises inFamous 2, LittleBigPlanet 2, Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One, Just Cause 2, Saints Row 2, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, Virtua Fighter 5, Warhammer 40K: Space Masrine, Hard Corp: Uprising, Choplifter HD, Zombie Apocalypse Never Dies Alone and Sideway NY. There’s still no news about the Plies feature being launched for the Vita.

At the Sony E3 press conference, the company also went on to announce a new PS Move game called Wonderbook: Book of Spells. This title will make use of a new PS3 peripheral called the Wonderbook. This hardware makes use of augmented reality technologies to tell and share stories for children and families. This will be first product under Sony’s partnership with Pottermore and it has been disclosed that the game will include exclusive content written by J.K. Rowling.

Along with this, the company also revealed a new PS Move Racing Wheel which will incorporate the PS Move controller into it. Folding motorcycle handlebars with twist grip throttle, fast access paddle shifters and enhanced vibration feedback, will all be on offer with this peripheral. It will be compatible with LittleBigPlanet Karting, MotorStorm Apocalypse, Gran Turismo 5, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, Burnout Paradise and other racing titles, and will launch this fall with its price tagged at 39.99 USD.

The Japanese giant’s PlayStation Suite has been renamed as PlayStation Mobile, and along with Sony devices, hardware by HTC will also be doled out under the PlayStation-certified license program. And it has been promised that a number of new games are indeed under development for these mobile devices. Until now, HYC’s One S, One X and One V have been announced to be PlayStation-certified handsets.
