Activision E3 Press Conference – Part 1: CoD, Skylanders and Transformers

A fresh trailer of Call of Duty: Black Ops II has emerged through the Activision E3 press conference. Along with this, among the newly unveiled games are Skylanders Giants and Transformers: Fall of Cybertron.

The publisher pegs Call of Duty: Black Ops II as the most groundbreaking and ambitious CoD game till date. It will transpire in the year 2025, and will supposedly introduce gamers to a fictional setting that has its roots in today’s headlines. Players will have at their disposal advanced weaponry, robotics as well as drone warfare. The title’s new Strike Force levels are said to refresh the series’ single-player aspects by introducing sandbox-style gameplay and branching storylines.

The much successful Zombies mode from the original Black Ops has been retained, but with various new additions. Then there are more multiplayer traits that are yet to be unveiled. Developed by Treyarch, Call of Duty: Black Ops II is set to release for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC on November 13, 2012.

Building upon the success of Skylanders Spyro’s Adventures, a new game in the franchise is scheduled for release this year in the form of Skylanders Giants. The title comprises 16 fresh characters including super-sized giants with distinct powers and the new LightCore Skylanders that light-up in the game. Moreover, the Portal of Power technology introduced with the earlier iteration will be available for players to integrate real-world toys within the game. In addition, new Hero Challenges, more Battle Mode gameplay and enhanced integration across the PS3, Xbox 360, PC, Wii, 3DS and the Skylanders Universe will also form part of the title.

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron was also showcased at the Activision E3 press conference. This direct sequel to the earlier game will supposedly enable players to experience the darkest hours of the war between the Autobots and Decepticons. The game’s competitive multiplayer will allow players to enter head-to-head battles between the two factions, while also offering advanced customization options. This title is developed by High Moon Studios for the PS3 and Xbox 360, while its PC version is being handled by Mercenary Technology.
