Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure to deliver cross platform experience

Gamers have eagerly been awaiting the arrival of their much-loved Spyro, the dragon for quite some time now. And it seems they won’t be let down. Activision claims Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure, its latest release as being an ‘entertainment breakthrough’. It is apparently the first cross platform game across the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, Nintendo 3DS, PC and mobile phones.

Gamers will be able to use the Portal of Power for breathing life into their Skylanders interaction figures within the game on any platform. During console and handheld gameplay, each Skylander will remember skill advancements and level-ups, allowing users to play with the same figures on any other platform. This way, users can take their Skylanders with them, wherever they go.

Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing commented, “Imagine a kid taking his Skylanders toy and bringing it to life on his X-Box 360 one day, then bringing it to life on his friend’s PS3 the next day, then bringing it to life inside his 3DS and playing it in the back of his parents’ car the next day, then bringing it to life on the web the day after that, all the while, building his character’s strength and powers across all of those platforms. It brings the physical and virtual worlds of play together in a whole new way.”

Toys for Bob has developed the game for Activision which has a storyline written by screenwriters Alec Sokolow and Joel Cohen of Toy Story fame. The game features a world, taken over by an evil Portal Master named Kaos. Gamers have the task of saving it with the help of over 30 available Skyalanders.

E3 saw the premiere of Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure which is rated ‘7’ by PEGI. The game will be released by Activision later this year.
