Another game based on Sony’s ‘Play, Create, and Share’ philosophy will be released in the form of LittleBigPlanet Karting exclusively for the PS3 this year. Sackboy and Sackgirl will be seen racing their way to glory in this 3D karting adventure developed by United Front Games in partnership with Media Molecule.
With the former being the studio behind the extremely successful Mod Nation Racers, and the latter having created the huge LittleBigPlanet franchise, this marriage between the two developers sure seems interesting. The new title will include classic karting races which will take place on vibrant game worlds, with features such as competitive arena battles, split screen modes, online modes via PSN, adventurous objective-based missions as well as minigames. According to the official PlayStation blog, it will be filled with DLCs and new experiments from the LBP family.
“It has been a joy to collaborate with all of the folks at Mm. Since the project’s inception, they have been great partners in getting to where we are today,” James Grieve, Sr. Producer, United Front Games, wrote on the blog. “Looking ahead, we can’t wait for all of the LBP fans out there to get their hands on LittleBigPlanet Karting. The LBP community is unparalleled in the gaming world for the passion and creativity they bring and it’s going to be exciting to see where they’re able to take this new journey for Sackboy.”
LittlBigPlanet Karting will come equipped with various customization tools, allowing gamers to craft unique levels using their imaginations. Moreover, this factor will not only be limited to the track designs, but also to game rules which will let players go beyond the concepts of traditional kart races. And just like in the earlier games, everything will be sharable through PSN.
LittleBigPlanet Karting is yet to receive a proper release date, but it has been confirmed that the title will be launched in 2012.
