There have been many console mods such as the Xbox 360 laptop mod and the PS3 Slim laptop mod. Earlier we even reported on a mod which made PS3 games playable remotely. Now we have word via the creator’s official web site of a steampunk modification of a Nintendo Gameboy console.
The mod took creator Thretris “a good week or so” to complete, and has several cogs, springs, and pipe-like wires all over, giving it that classic steampunk look. The dirty gold style paint finish also helps.
The device is referred to as the steampunk DMG-01 and is apparently fully functional. It comes with a pro-sound audio mod as well as an orange LED swap. The Gameboy has been fully hand painted, and the creator says that he will sell the mod if someone makes him an offer, or someday he might just put his creation up for sale on eBay.
That’s all cool. But will it fold?
