Assassin’s Creed Unity and Rogue have shipped 10 million copies already

Last year’s Assassin’s Creed Unity and Rogue have together managed to breach the 10 million mark in units shipped already. These two games were released by Ubisoft on the same date – November 11 – but for different sets of platforms. While Unity was meant for the PS4, the Xbox One and PC, Rogue was directed towards the PS3 and the Xbox 360, with a version for PC set to be released next month. This announcement regarding the sales numbers of these two offerings was made at the publisher’s latest financial report by chairman and CEO Yves Guillemot.

At the gathering, he also spoke about the controversial launch of Assassin’s Creed Unity which saw a bevy of bugs being found in the game. He revealed that since the game was meant for new-gen consoles, they had to redo the engine from the ground up. It’s due to this tedious process that some things got neglected, thus resulting in a buggy experience. Guillemot also said that the new engine is now more ready to be used in upcoming games that include this year’s Assassin’s Creed offering.

Other big revelations made by the company include the fact that Watch Dogs has shipped 10 million copies as well. Himalayan open world extravaganza Far Cry 4 meanwhile has managed to ship only 7 million copies, whereas The Crew has moved 2 million. The focus has now shifted to games that Ubisoft will be releasing this year. Among them will be titles like Tom Clancy’s The Division, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege and more.

It’s surprising to see that despite the many problems which Assassin’s Creed Unity had during its launch, it has still managed to move so many copies. Just goes on to show the immense popularity which the series enjoys.
