Just when the anticipation was starting to get unbearable, Rockstar has delighted its fans by releasing the first ever GTA V gameplay trailer which throws a good deal of light on how the title will play out. This video comes following a total of five other hard to come by trailers which the developer had churned out to give us a fair idea of what to expect from this newest GTA entry. From what can be seen in the new one, this game already looks as massive as it can get.
The video explains in the form of a narration, most of the familiar and new aspects that gamers can look forward to indulging in when they actually get going with the title. Calling the open world of GTA V a ‘sprawling satirical reimagining of modern Southern California,’ it visually goes on to explain the enormity of its mountains, its urban decay, its lavish cities as well as its untouched wilderness.
We already know much about the three new protagonists, but it is for the first time that we get to witness how switching between them works. During missions, the three of them serve different purposes, and since they are supposed to assist each other on their outings, GTA V gamers will need to know when to assume control of a different character to perform a desired action.
Like for example, in the video, we see Michael taking someone hostage, and as he asks for backup, the control shifts to Franklin who’s up a rooftop in a sniping position, ready to help him out. But this is during mi1ssions; when a character is in free-roam mode, he can also choose to see what the other two men are at.
Car customizations make a return after a no-show in the previous game, while flying planes and changing clothes will be other activates which gamers will be able to perform. Mini-games have been infused into GTA V as well, with sports like tennis, bike-riding, base-jumping and golf having found their way into it, among other ones. Hunting is a new addition, and so is sea diving.
Bank heists have been described as the main focus of the mission-based gameplay within the title. Money earned by players will be spendable on stocks and real estate, so there are other mini-games involved here as well. The video ends with a message saying that Grand Theft Auto Online, the game’s multiplayer component will be showcased soon.
GTA V is slated to hit the PS3 and Xbox 360 on September 17 this year, and there’s still no confirmation of a PC release.
