Pleasantly shocking details have come forth about GTA V which has been revealed to include not one, not two, but 3 playable characters in it. And apparently, players will be able to choose between these three at the push of a button. What’s all the more drool-worthy is the fact that the game will be built inside a sandbox of a world (Los Santos) which will be bigger than those of San Andreas, GTA 4 and Red Dead Redemption combined.
First among the three protagonists is Michael who has been described as a retired bank robber. Living in his early 40s, Michael owns a posh house at Rockford Hills, where he stays with his mean trophy wife, a bratty teenage daughter and a 20 year old son. This lifestyle leads to his stack of money slowly diminishing, pushing him again into a life of crime.
Trevor is the second guy, who’s is a junkie and an ex-military pilot with a tendency to burst into fits of rage at times. He puts it up in Blaine County which is a desert region filled with bikers and meth addicts. While Trevor is an old friend of Michael’s, the third character, Franklin meets the latter after targeting him for a hustle. In his mid-twenties, Franklin is a hustler by profession, and is working for an Armenian car dealership, while residing in Vespucci Beach.
The decision to include three main figures was taken by Rockstar Games, as it wanted to explore different character traits, which were quite uncharacteristic to have been granted to just one protagonist. This has given the game an entirely different narrative approach, in turn affecting the traditional game design. San Andreas-like weight-gains and losses as well as GTA 4-like multiple romances will be absent from the title, the developer has confirmed.
New characters have also been revealed to form part of GTA V, while others from GTA 4 and the Episodes From Liberty City will also be seen. But gamers can stop expecting bumping into faces from games of the PS2 era, as they’ll all – including CJ and Tommy Vercetti – be absent.
Coming towards the setting, the downright vastness of it has been explained by the developer as well. All the main regions in and around Los Angeles – which Los Santos is a fictional version of – have been covered in the game. A number of other little features within GTA V have been revealed by Game Informer in its December issue which is now available digitally, and is slated to launch physically later on. Gamers can note that this title will be out in the spring of next year, and can be pre-ordered now through various retailers. Also, stay tuned for the game’s second trailer which will be popping out on November 14.
