GTA V available to pre-order on consoles, PC not given a mention

GTA V is now available to pre-order on Xbox 360 and PS3 in the US, UK and Canada. As was the case with the previous iteration in the series, Rockstar’s latest offering gives PC gamers a miss, in terms of the pre-booking at least. But those hoping that the separation between consoles and PC ends here, might be in for another lengthy wait.

Pre-order pricing has also been revealed, but the developer is still holding back on the game’s cover art. And in actuality, very little of the new title is known, save for the fact that it will be set in a fictionalized present-day Southern California environment.

The fifteenth in the series, the game will take players back to city of Los Santos – which they visited in GTA: San Andreas – and its surroundings. Not unexpectedly, it will be the largest game yet from the publisher, featuring landscapes from mountains to oceans.

The studio revealed last week that the game was slated for a release in the spring of 2013 and has now made available a little bit of artwork titled ‘Beach Weather’ that we’ve attached below. Peace.

Rockstar also says that later in the week, Game Informer will have a cover story on the open world title. But with the studio feeding its fans mere morsels, it remains to be seen what the story will be capable of quenching.

Coming back to the previous game in the series, GTA IV, it was released in April 2008 and went on to be crowned Game of the Year. It even got two episodes, namely, The Lost and the Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony. And judging by the quality of the GTA V content made public so far, there’s no reason to count it out of the GotY hopefuls.

The pre-orders for GTA V are now open and a copy of the game can be secured for about 60 USD (approx. Rs. 3,265). In the US, this can be done via GameStop, Amazon.com, Best Buy and Walmart, as well as from Rockstar Warehouse, while those in Canada will have to visit Best Buy, FutureShop and EB Games. Gamers in the UK will have to get their Xbox 360 or PS3 copy booked via GAME, hmv, Play and Zavvi.
