Gears of War: Judgment has opened for pre-order, and those who reserve a copy for themselves are in line to receive a nice little bonus. In addition to this piece of news that should find any Gears fan beaming, Microsoft and developer Epic Games have revealed official box art for the title which can be seen below.
The game is set some time before the previous trilogy and will follow a group of soldiers known as Kilo Squad. They are led into battle by Damon Baird and Augustus Cole. And just like Halo 4 brought a new adversary to the fore, Judgment will see the troop fighting to save the city of Halvo Bay from a “terrifying new enemy.”
Those who jump at the opportunity to pre-order the title from participating retailers will receive, at launch, an exclusive in-game weapon for use in multiplayer modes. This is the Classic Hammerburst which affords players a killing six shot burst. The half-minute video we’ve added below of the gun in action doesn’t explain much, but gives fans a look at its working in the game.
Those concerned about the title’s co-op and multiplayer capabilities should rest assured, as there will be two newcomers to the Gears of War series, Sofia Hendricks and Garron Paduk. Character art for these new entrants has also been revealed, if players are looking for a peek at what they can expect.
The post on Epic Games’ official blog goes on to say that those retailers participating in the promotion will have additional pre-order incentives in the coming weeks. These will include exclusive multiplayer character skins for Young Dom, Young Marcus, Alex Brand and Anya.
That’s really all the information available at this point in time, but in the months to come there will be more revealed about the game. Those who wish to book their copy of Gears of War: Judgment in advance will have to visit Xbox.com or a specific retailer’s web site for exact information on the pre-order bonus items given away.
The game will be released on March 19, 2013, coming to gamers at a price of 59.99 USD (approx. Rs. 3,260). What’s odd is that even though the blog list a 6-shot Classic Hammerburst, online retailers have listed the 3-shot Hammerburst as a channel-wide item. And while Gamestop is offering a Young Marcus character skin in addition to the gun, those who pre-order at Amazon.com will receive a Young Dom skin instead.
