FIFA 13 sells 4.5 Million units in 5 Days to become biggest launch of the year

If claims of EA are to be believed, then FIFA 13 has already turned out to be 2012’s biggest video game launch and also the biggest sports video game launch of all-time. Having sold 4.5 million units worldwide, this newest entry to the acclaimed series has become the no. 1 selling title in at least 40 countries, as per EA’s internal sales data till October 1, 2012.

The launch of this much awaited game commenced on September 25 which saw it being rolled out in North America. September 28 was the date on which it set foot in the UK, and it was only in the span of one day that it managed to scoop up more than 1.23 million sales. This has made it the second video game franchise ever to trade over 1 million units in the UK in just 1 day.

EA has also noted September 30 to be the busiest day for online gaming of a single title in EA history. According to its internal data sources, a whopping 800,000 gamers played the title simultaneously on that day.

Having sold 4.5 million units already, FIFA 13 has kicked off the fall season launches of this year with a bang. With heaps of high-profile titles like Assassin’s Creed 3, Halo 4, Call of Duty Black Ops 2, and more ready to release soon, it remains to be seen how long this record persists.
