EA Sports FIFA 13 demo approaches 2 million downloads worldwide

The demo of EA Sports’ much anticipated FIFA 13 has been downloaded almost 2 million times just three days after it was launched for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. This figure came last Friday and so it wouldn’t be too far out to assume that the game has surpassed this number by now. This is apparently a 29 percent increase compared with the launch of the previous game’s demo in the same span of time.

The sports video game has about 10 days to go before it is officially launched and more than 875,000 copies have been pre-ordered as of September 13. In year over year growth, this marks a 37 percent increase in Europe and 62 percent in North America, although year over year figures can be deceiving, if taken at face value.

FIFA 13 will encapsulate a few new features such as a first touch control scheme promising the unpredictability of real-world football matches. And there are new online services which aim to connect the video game beyond the realms of the simulated. At any rate, the sports title will look to build upon the success of the last few installments in the series all the way back to the game-changing FIFA 10.

FIFA 13 is scheduled to go on sale in North America on September 25 and worldwide on September 28. EA Sports Season Ticket holders in Europe will the opportunity to receive it on September 22, while those in North America can start downloading the game a day earlier. It will also feature support for the PS Move and the Kinect and release for the PS Vita, 3DS, PSP, and Nintendo Wii U, when the new console launches later in the year.
