Metal Gear Solid HD Collection Breaking Cover on June 12

Back in March, Konami had delighted PS Vita owners by announcing a handheld version of the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, and now the publisher has finally slapped a release date on this package. Scheduled to come out on June 12, 2012, this collection of past PS2 titles from Kojima’s extremely revered MG series, comes with optimized controls and the Transfarring feature.

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection 1

Unlike the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the MGS HD Collection, the PS Vita port does not kick in Peace Walker HD, as it is a PSP title. This means that MGS 2: Sons of Liberty and MGS 3: Snake Eater will form part of the Vita compilation. These PS2 games feature upgraded graphics as well as support for controls on the handheld’s touchscreen and its rear touchpad. This enables gamers to zoom in during cut-scenes, peek around corners, interrogate enemies, cycle through weapons and perform rapid attacks with knives.

The Transfarring trait which we mentioned above allows for the transmission of save data from the PS3 systems. This permits gamers to start playing the title from wherever they left off on either of the devices. Moreover, along with save data, the feature will also allow the transfer of Trophies between the home console and the handheld console. Obviously, the Xbox 360 won’t be eligible for Transfarring.

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection 2

The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection will be made available for the PS Vita on June 12 with a price tag of 39.99 USD (approx. Rs. 2,180). Both the PS3 and the Xbox 360 versions of this set sell at the same price.
