It’s been a long time since Sony has released an upgraded version of its handheld gaming console, the PlayStation Portable. Many analysts as well as gamers were speculating that Sony would come up with a new PSP this year. Well, now Sony Computer Entertainment has unveiled PSP-3000, which comes with an advanced LCD and a built-in microphone.
The new PlayStation Portable will display movies and photos in more natural and vibrant colors on the high resolution 4.3 inch wide screen. It has the highest-level contrast ratio, response time and wider color gamut possible on a portable liquid crystal display screen. As for the embedded mic, the new PSP will let gamers properly use Skype and other communication tools. Sony has also expanded the video-out port of the PSP that will let gamers enjoy games on non-progressive TVs, all they have to do is get the cables, which will be sold separately.
The new PSP will be released by Sony from October 2008 in Japan, Asia, North America and Europe. They are yet to reveal details about the new PSP prices. The new version will come in the Pearl White and Mystic Silver color besides the Piano Black color. Last month, SCEA head Jack Tretton had pointed out that Sony was mulling over a PSP with a hard disk drive.
