New PSP Sells 140,000 in Just Four Days

A few weeks ago, we had reported that Sony had unveiled a new model of their handheld gaming console. It was the PSP-3000 that had a built-in microphone and an advanced LCD. Sony should be happy with it as the new PSP units are flying off shelves in Japan, where they went on sale last week.

Gaming blog Kotaku is reporting that the new PSP-3000 has sold 141,270 units. All this in just the first four days! The figures are from Famitsu. The new PlayStation Portable went on sale in Japan on October 16, 2008. Besides PSP-3000, the PSP-1000 and PSP-2000 combined sold 155,720 units last week.

The handheld gaming console by Sony is becoming very popular in Japan these days. A few weeks ago, it had emerged that the PSP was the leading hardware this year in the land of the rising sun. Sony is doing a lot of things for the handheld, in fact, they are even considering a MMO for the PSP.
