Eight PS2 classics have come to the PS4

Sony has just announced the launch of a set of eight PS2 titles that can be played on the PS4 by those who own the new-gen console. They will however need to purchase these games even if they had already bought the original PS2 versions. While some big titles are being sold at 15 USD (approximately Rs 1000), others are going for 10 USD (approximately Rs 660).

The games that fans will be able to jump into include the likes of Dark Cloud, Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Rogue Galaxy, The Mark of Kri, Twisted Metal: Black and War of the Monsters. Sony has confirmed that support for more PS2 titles is on its way as well.

All these classics will ship with full Trophy support, while they will also be compatible with Remote Play, Live Broadcast, Share Play, Activity Feeds and Second Screen traits. Sony has moreover, also gone ahead and revealed that all these titles will run at upscaled 1080p resolution on the PS4.

PS2

At the PlayStation Experience event in San Francisco this weekend, fans will be able to enjoy two more titles from the PS2 library. These include PaRappa the Rapper 2 and The King of Fighters 2000, both of which will be released for the PS4 soon.

This effort from Sony comes right after Microsoft made a whole bunch of Xbox 360 games compatible with the Xbox One console. Unlike previous-gen systems, neither the Xbox One nor the PS4 were released with backwards compatibility onboard due to technical reasons.
