Some Fallout 4 Xbox One mods are actually stolen from PC version

Turns out that some of the mods hitting Fallout 4 on Xbox One, are being stolen from the PC version actually. Since a few gamers and creators started noticing this and reporting them to Bethesda, they are being taken down. But that hasn’t calmed the raging storm around the issue.

Folks who have built the PC mods are angry at the way Bethesda is handling the matter and have many supporters backing them. At present, those who think their work has been uploaded without their permission, can file a Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) takedown request through ZeniMax Media.

According to a Reddit thread, Xbox One users are uploading stolen Fallout 4 mods under obscure titles like ‘test’ or ‘do not download.’ These were up on Bethesda.net as well as Nexus Mods. Creators are angry that the contested content was easily made available through these portals in the first place.

In the other camp, several are calling out the complainants for not taking the initiative to port these mods to Xbox when they’re meant for one and the same game. One Reddit user notes that since the creators were not earning any money off the mods, and they weren’t being defaced either, there’s no issue.

Modders who have been crafting mods for Windows PC have various reasons for not wanting to port these to console. Two of these appear to be the difference in quality and the higher number of hoops they need to jump through in order to do so. But not everyone is going to be satisfied with this explanation.
