Cyberpunk 2077 to feature multiplayer

Apart from the open world brilliance that we can expect off Cyberpunk 2077, we can also pin our hopes on CD Projekt RED presenting a decent multiplayer experience. Infusing the latter component into one of its games will be an absolute first for the Polish outfit, but prior to that, The Witcher 3 is slated to arrive, and there are even chances of it having some sort of a multiplayer element, although nothing is confirmed about this one as yet.

Cyberpunk 2077

What’s sure is that Cyberpunk 2077, the futuristic open world RPG which blew us away with its first teaser trailer recently, will indeed come with multiplayer as one of its offerings. The managing director of CDPR, Adam Badowski, had got into a chat with Eurogamer, where he disclosed this interesting piece of information. Asserting that the game will be a story-based RPG experience granting ”˜amazing single-player playthroughs,’ he added that the studio also plans to add ”˜multiplayer features’ to it, stopping short of mentioning any details about them.

As for the question of the said features coming to The Witcher 3, Badowski has said that CDPR is still thinking on the matter. Rumors had begun making the rounds when a job listing was put up on the developer’s site for someone fitting the role of ”˜multiplayer programmer.’ Other details about both these games have also come to the fore through this interview by the above mentioned website. It has been revealed that the futuristic RPG will be more open-ended in terms of its protagonist who will be selectable from various character classes unlike The Witcher series which only allows gamers to play as Geralt.

Besides, it has come to light that the development of the cyberpunk-based game is still in its initial stages, as the team that is supposed to create it, is still being stitched together. But then why announce it so early? Apparently, the company has intended its amazing CGI trailer as a tool to attract development talent towards the team.

The Witcher 3

Cyberpunk 2077 should be out for PC and ”˜next-gen-consoles’ (PS4 and probably the next Xbox) in 2015. Fans of the developer have something to jump into a little early as well. The Witcher 3 is slated to hit the same platforms next year. To know what this latter series is all about, they can have a read of our review of its second iteration.
