Fans take notice; a new Mass Effect game is under development currently in BioWare’s stable along with fresh single-player and multiplayer DLC packs for the latest edition of the series. This announcement came through a letter written by the studio’s General Manager, Aaryn Flynn which explains BioWare’s future outlook following the retirement of its co-founders, Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk. Moreover, a new single-player DLC for ME3 titled Omega was also announced through the address to be slated for launch this fall.
As part of a homage letter to the two founders of the company, Flynn has given an update upon the ‘people and projects’ which will define BioWare in the coming months. As announced yesterday, a new chapter in the Dragon Age saga is also under development. But it is for the first time that a fourth mainstream game under the Mass Effect franchise has been talked about by its maker.
“Executive Producer Casey Hudson and his team are coming off an amazing eight-year run with the Mass Effect trilogy. But they’re not done yet. We are releasing more multiplayer content and we have more single-player stories coming throughout the next six months, including Omega which is coming in the Fall. But the Mass Effect universe is vast, and Casey and our teams have plans for another full game. ‘Where to go next?’ with such a project has been a question a lot of us have been asking, and we’d all love to hear your ideas,” Aaryn Flynn, General Manager of BioWare Edmonton and Montreal, wrote on the official BioWare blog.
This is the only information about the game we have till now. The first title in the series came out in 2007, and was followed by a sequel in 2010. It was only this year that the third entry made its way to multiple platforms. It managed to grab an Overall score of 10/10 in our review of it. Meanwhile, there is also talk about a completely new IP from the developer which is being built from the ground up with ‘all new gaming technology,’ hinting that the project will be a next-gen title.
It doesn’t seem like more information about the new Mass Effect game will be doled out anytime soon. We’ll have more on it as and when it comes out.
