Sony’s Spider-Man Games Are Headed To PC

Marvel's Spider-Man

Sony has announced that both Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be released for PC later this year. The earlier game will also feature a ‘Remastered’ tag on the new platform, offering technical and performance upgrades, including adjustable render settings and ray-traced reflections. Being a PS5 game, the latter game won’t need any such upgrades.

The Spider-Man games now join Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, which is also slated to hit the Windows platform later this year. However, unlike the said bundle, these Insomniac games do have firm release time frames. August 12 is when Spider-Man: Remastered will hit PC, while Spider-Man: Miles Morales will arrive sometime during this fall.

As of May 15 this year, Marvel’s Spider-Man series has sold more than 33 million copies globally. The first game was released in 2018 for the PS4 and tells an original narrative inspired by the long-running comic book series. Not just its story but also its gameplay was greatly appreciated by fans and critics alike. Peter Parker can freely move around New York City using the game’s mesmerizing web-slinging ability.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales continues the story of the previous game but has a new protagonist. It came out in November 2020 as a launch title for the PS5 but is also playable on the PS4. A squeal to both these games, titled Spider-Man 2 is also in the pipeline but is scheduled to release in 2023 for now.

Sony’s recent strategy of releasing PlayStation-exclusive hits on PC has been wholeheartedly welcomed by fans. Games like Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War, Death Stranding and more would never have been playable for non-PlayStation players otherwise.
