Aliens: Colonial Marines and Alien vs. Predator get removed from Steam

Without any advanced notice, Valve has stopped listing Aliens: Colonial Marines and Alien vs. Predator on its digital distribution platform named Steam. There’s no word on what the exact reason behind this action is. Those who have already purchased either of the two games can still play them on their machines, but those who wish to buy them online now won’t be able to do so. Another title from the franchise, Alien: Isolation which was released late last year continues to exist on Valve’s platform however.

Aliens: Colonial Marines

The disappearance of Aliens: Colonial Marines and Alien vs. Predator from Steam might have something to do with the expiration of license agreements signed between Sega and 20th Century Fox, which happens to be the rights holder of the massive franchise. Since Alien: Isolation has only just been released, fans need not be vary of it vanishing off the PC platform anytime soon. Developed by The Creative Assembly, this game has been well received by critics, unlike the other two mentioned up there.

Aliens: Colonial Marines was launched as a first-person shooter in February 2013 and was met with negative reviews owing to its rusty gameplay, bugs and poor multiplayer among other things. It moreover, even had a class action lawsuit filed against it with claims that the game was falsely advertised at trade shows. Alien vs. Predator on the other hand was released in 2010, and was received with mixed reviews back then.

Like we said, both Aliens: Colonial Marines and Alien vs. Predator cannot be found listed on Steam anymore, but if you own them already you can certainly play them offline as well as online.
