Wii Package, Nintendo Selects Collection Detailed

All hype pertaining to the Nintendo Wii reduced prices and successor to the system which was supposedly codenamed Project Cafe seems to have died down just a wee bit. Early last month, we reported that the Wii would sport a slashed price of $150 from May 15, 2011. With the month already upon us, we now have confirmation of the rumored price reduction and dates as well.

Nintendo is presenting its Wii system drenched in either black or white for a price of $149.99. This console also comes complete with a Mario Kart Wii game as well as a matching colored Wii Wheel accessory which takes the place of the previously bundled Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort games.

The Mario Kart Wii enables players to take advantage of go-kart racing with the likes of Mario and his Mushroom Kingdom friends. Besides the Wii Wheel accessory, the Wii Remote Plus and Nunchuk controllers will also be splashed in matching colors to the hardware.

“From the day it launched, Wii has let players of all ages and experience levels have fun with one another,” explains Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. “The new suggested retail pricing for both the hardware and select games will help create more of these magical moments for even greater numbers of people.”

The company is set to also unveil the new Nintendo Selects Collection of popular Wii titles. Four among the offered games in the group include Wii Sports, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Mario Super Sluggers and Animal Crossing: City Folk. With these titles, console owners can extend their library of Wii titles with more family-oriented games.

The price for the Wii bundle and Nintendo Selects Collection of Wii games are 149.99 USD (approx. Rs. 6,688) and 19.99 USD (approx. Rs. 891) respectively. The black Wii Wheel can also be picked up separately for 9.99 USD (approx. Rs. 445). Gamers are able to acquire the bundle and games starting May 15, 2011.
