Nintendo to Offer Wii for $150?

The realm which was dominated by Nintendo Wii until late last year seems to have changed its face drastically over the past couple of months. At first, Sony introduced a familiar product with refined precision followed by Microsoft’s controller-free innovation. Subsequent to the buzz created by these new offerings, Nintendo supposedly has pulled up its socks.

Rumor has it that the gaming giant will soon shrink the price tag clinging to the console. According to a post on Engadget, Nintendo could offer the Wii at the price of $150 starting May 15 this year. Nevertheless, this apparent move has been speculated to be nothing more than a rumor for several reasons.

Given the sales figures achieved by the company across the US, as stated in NPD group’s report, this development is unlikely to take place in the near future. Additionally, the rumored date has been viewed as a strong reason against the price drop. This is mainly since the year’s E3 would then only be a few weeks away from the date which has been pinned down for the announcement.

The Nintendo Wii is currently priced at 200 USD (approx. Rs. 8,887). The company has not yet issued an official announcement in this regard.
